During three days in September, participants from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden gathered at the Army-museum in Stockholm to, within the framework of Nordefco (Cooperation Area Armament), kick-off a new working group for unmanned aerial systems (UAS WG).

The UAS working-group goals, among other things is to develop collaborations in different phases of capability development/built up within areas such as technical requirements, methods, organization, regulations, interoperability, lessons learned, training/exercises, support/logistics and joint procurement. Sweden is first to hold the 2-year chair, then its handed over to Denmark, followed by Finland and Norway. The UAS WG will meet a number of times annually and also constitute sub-working groups.

Björn Wollentz, who is Sweden's representative in COPA ARMA, and Johan Pakarinen, who is responsible for Sweden's chairmanship and contribution to the working group, can state that this type of cooperation is of great value and that the meeting was very constructive and appreciated by all participants.
