The first meeting has been held in the new working group looking at reducing CO₂ emissions. Based on the important goal of protecting our global environment, NORDEFCO has in 2020 initiated the work to improve practices and procedures to reduce CO₂ emissions originating from military activities.

Denmark leads the work of facilitating discussions and exchange of experiences, ideas and best practices in the armed forces of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The effort has particular emphasis on training activities, transportation and deployments, but also on energy consumption in fixed positions such as camps, ships in harbor etc.
