First meeting between NORDEFCO and the United States at the military level

The Military Coordination Committee (MCC) met with Brigadier General Jessica Meyeraan from the United States European Command in what was the first meeting between NORDEFCO and the United States at the military level.

Among the topics discussed were military mobility, capability development and cooperation in the Arctic. A proposed plan for exercise coordination was also supported by the United States. Although the cooperation between NORDEFCO and the United States is new, both sides expressed confidence in expanding it in the future. The meeting follows a meeting at the political level in 2019 and is part of the NORDEFCO target to enhance transatlantic relations. Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions only the Chairman of the MCC, Rear Admiral Frank Trojahn and Brigadier General Jessica Meyeraan met in person, whereas the MCC representatives from Norway, Sweden and Finland joined through video link.
