Capability Development Workshop and meeting with Baltic states uncover new ideas for cooperation

The Citadel in the heart of Copenhagen provided the venue for a range of meetings in the Coordination Staff and the Cooperation Areas (COPAs).

They participated in a workshop arranged by COPA Capabilities to investigate approaches to cooperation within Space, Counter-UAS and Electronic Warfare. These three areas have been selected as key areas for capability development within NORDEFCO for the coming years. The COPAs which cover the areas of Capabilities, Armaments, Human Resources and Education, Training and Exercises, and Operations, are the subgroups at the military level where ideas for cooperation are created and developed across the Nordic countries.

Later, the Coordination Staff welcomed their Baltic colleagues from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania for a discussion on how the Nordic and Baltic countries can cooperate in the future as well as giving a status on the cooperation that is going on right now. The topics discussed ranged from training to planning and procurement. It also provided an opportunity to deliberate on the new meeting cycle and exercise coordination plan which were agreed to at the meetings in the Baltic states in March 2020. Increased dialogue and cooperation with the Baltic states is among the targets of the Danish NORDEFCO Chairmanship.
