On behalf of the Norwegian Defence University College and our Nordic Defence partners, I am delighted to welcome you to the 8th military conference for Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL). For the first time it will be a joint venture from the four Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. It will gather educators and trainers from all four Defense forces and give us the opportunity increase both knowledge and cooperation.
In many cases technology is a key factor when new training and education are developed. Sometimes you may wonder what came first, the learning need or the technology. We see new types of training- and learning solutions emerging almost every month.
Emerging technologies like mobile devices, gaming, virtual reality, and wireless simulation are being developed and used in training and education. Are these new solutions useful? How to use ADL and emerging technologies to support training and education and enhance the operational capacity is a paramount question. This will be the main topic for this year's event. We will work hard to give you an insight on how you and your organization can use new emerging technologies to increase the effectiveness and quality of your training.
If you have a great proposal for a presentation within the field of ADL, please submit an abstract before February 1st 2013. Our program committee will develop the conference program based the incoming proposals.
Last year we had 140 participants from 12 different nations and we expect to have even more people joining us in 2013. We welcome you to join us for yet another great learning experience and great networking opportunity.
