Finland Hosts Nordic Baltic Cooperation Meeting
The Finnish Defence Forces Deputy Chief of Staff Strategy, Lieutenant General Kim Jäämeri, will host the defence cooperation meeting of the Nordic and Baltic countries in Finland on 19-20 September 2017.

Finnish Defence Forces to Participate in AURORA 17 in Sweden
All of the three services of the Finnish Defence Forces will participate in the AURORA 17 exercise organised by the Swedish Armed Forces. The exercise will be take place in areas around Stockholm, Gotland and Gothenburg and in the southern Baltic Sea 11-29 September 2017. Approximately 19,000 soldiers and other authorities from Sweden are participating in the exercise, as well as troops from Lithuania, Norway, Poland, France, Denmark, Estonia and the United States.
Nordic Defence Cooperation Meeting in Helsinki
The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg, and the Director General of the Resource Policy Department of the Finnish Ministry of Defence, Raimo Jyväsjärvi, will host a defence cooperation meeting in Helsinki on 18 August 2017
The Nordic Chiefs of Defence Met in Helsinki
Nordic Defence Cooperation Received Strong Support from the Member Countries. The Nordic Chiefs of Defence gathered on the Santahamina Military Island for the annual NORDEFCO-commanders’ meeting, held on 7 and 8March. The meeting was hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg and its theme focused on the ongoing Nordic defence cooperation projects and their further guidance as well as meeting the Nordic network participants.
NORDEFCO Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations Gender Training of Trainers Course started
Altogether twenty-five students from four different countries are attending the NORDEFCO Gender Training of Trainers Mobile Education and Training Team Course (NCGM METT GToT). The course instructor pool is also very diverse: the instructors represent five different nations.
Finland to host meeting of the Nordic CHODs
The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg, will host the meeting of Nordic chiefs of defence in Finland on 7 March 2017.
Nordic Gender Focal Point Training Needs Analysis is on-going
FINCENT supports the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations (NCGM) in conducting the training needs analysis for the Nordic Gender Focal Point (GFP) Training. Gender experts form Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are currently working on the course design. The pilot course will be held at Livgardet on 4.-5.4.2017.
NORDEFCO Peace Support Operations Cooperation Course started at FINCENT
Twenty-five students representing six different nationalities are participating in the NORDEFCO Peace Support Operations Cooperation Course at the Finnish Defence Forces International Centre located in Helsinki, Finland.
Finland holds the chairmanship of NORDEFCO in 2017
Finland will hold the chairmanship of NORDEFCO in 2017. The one-year chairmanship rotates among the Nordic countries. In 2016, it was held by Denmark and in 2018 Finland will pass it on to Norway.

The Nordic countries plan to buy a joint combat uniform. The joint procurement aims to ensure the soldiers a coherent uniform system that works in all conditions and guarantees the Nordic countries value for money.
MINUSMA - Signature of Letter of Intent
On 20 June a rotation concept for the deployment of C-130 transport aircraft to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Mali, MINUSMA, was signed by Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.
Nordic Defence Cooperation 2020
We the Nordic Ministers of Defence strongly believe that deepened and strengthened Nordic defence cooperation will create opportunities for our respective countries to develop, maintain and use our military means more efficiently and in a more cost-effective manner. Despite different security affiliations there is substantial potential for further developing Nordic Defence Cooperation, which complements efforts in other international forums such as the UN, NATO and the EU.
